Nijolė Juchnevičienė

Associate Professor at the Department of Classical Philology, Institute of English, Romance, and Classical Studies, Faculty of Philology, Vilnius University.

Research interests: Ancient Greek historiography and biography, history of Classical Philology during Soviet occupation, problems of gender and representation of women in Plutarch.

Other activities:

  • Supervisor of 2 doctoral dissertations: Construction of Panhellenic Identity in the Greek Historical Discourse of the Classical Period (defended 04 12 2020) and Construction of Roman Identity in the Literature of Early Principate (2017 – 2022).
  • Deputy editor-in-chief of the journal Literatūra (VU Research Papers)
  • Editorial board member of the journal Philologia classica: Studies in Classical Philology and History of Classical Scholarship (St. Petersburg State University)
  • Editorial board member of the journal Antiquitas Viva: studia classica (University of Latvia)
  • Editorial council member of the journal Keria. Studia Latina et Graeca (Slovene Association of Antique and Humanistic Studies)
  • Executive committee member and vicepresident of Euroclassica (European Association of Teachers of Classical Languages and Culture) untill 2019, representative of Lithuania in the General Assembly of Euroclassica
  • President of the Lithuanian Association of Classicists (Societas Classica)
